Our everyday standard: quiet, air-conditioned and ideal for solo travellers and business runs.
Airport CabConnect runs pre-booked taxis to London Luton Airport (LTN) 24 hours a day from any UK postcode. You get a fixed fare when you book. It already includes the £7 Pick Up and Drop Off Zone charge, live flight tracking and one hour of free waiting after you land. Fares start from £45 from North London, £81 from Milton Keynes and £104 from Northampton. Vehicles range from a standard saloon to an 8-seater minibus.
Luton is an early morning airport. Many easyJet and Wizz Air flights leave in the first wave of the day, so a lot of our passengers are on the road at 3am. At that hour trains are thin and local cab offices are closed. That is exactly the work we are set up for. Your taxi to London Luton Airport is booked days ahead, and you get the driver’s details before the trip. Nobody is left wondering whether a car will turn up at 2:45am.
If you have been searching for a minicab to Luton Airport, it is the same service. Minicab is just the everyday British name for a pre-booked private hire car. Every car we send is council licensed and insured.
A taxi to Luton Airport costs from around £45 from north London, £58 from Bedford and £81 from Milton Keynes. From Heathrow it is £95, and from Northampton £104. These prices are for a standard saloon, one way. Estates, people carriers, executive cars and 8 seaters cost more. Your exact fixed price shows up as soon as you enter your pickup address, travel date and vehicle, before you pay anything.

| Birmingham to Luton Airport | About 85 miles | 1 hr 30 min to 2 hr | £186 |
These are guide prices for a saloon, one way, in either direction. The price you book is the exact fixed fare for your address.
Luton has a Hackney carriage rank just past Bus Bay A outside the terminal. Those black cabs run on a meter, so the price keeps climbing while you sit in M1 traffic, and you only find out the total when you arrive. A pre-booked minicab costs the same whether the road is clear or jammed. For short hops into Luton town, the rank is fine. For anything past the M25 or up the M1, a fixed fare is usually the safer bet for your wallet.
Our Premium Fleet
Every transfer comes with flight tracking, meet & greet arrivals and a fixed price confirmed at booking.
Our everyday standard: quiet, air-conditioned and ideal for solo travellers and business runs.
Same ride as a saloon with a deeper boot, the safe choice when the cases are full.
Top-tier saloon with a professional chauffeur, leather interior and full privacy on board.
Five seats with real legroom and a boot that swallows the family holiday load. Child seats on request.
One vehicle for the whole party: eight seats, eight cases and no second booking to manage.
These are the journeys we run most often. For each one you get the road your driver will actually use, plus the one thing locals on that route tend to get caught out by.
Your driver joins the M1 at junction 14 and runs south to junction 10. From there, the short airport spur road goes straight to the Drop Off Zone. It is one of the easiest runs we do.
Here is the catch most people miss. Milton Keynes Central sits on the West Coast line and Luton Airport Parkway sits on the Midland line, so there is no direct train between them. That is why families from Bletchley, Newport Pagnell, Wolverton and the rest of MK usually take a taxi from Milton Keynes to Luton Airport.
A taxi from Northampton to Luton Airport is a straight M1 run, joining at junction 15 and leaving at junction 10. From Daventry or the north of the county, your driver will usually join at junction 16 instead.
Northampton has the same rail problem as Milton Keynes: there is no direct line to Luton Airport Parkway. Going by train means heading into London first and then doubling back. That turns a 50 minute drive into a three hour trip with luggage.
Your driver heads down the M1 from junction 21 all the way to junction 10. It is a long, simple motorway run. A fixed fare makes sense here because you are not watching a meter tick for 70 miles.
We collect from anywhere in Leicestershire, including Oadby, Wigston, Hinckley, Loughborough and Market Harborough. A family of four sharing one fare often pays close to the price of a single rail ticket each, without any station changes.
Most drivers take the A1(M) south and cut across to the airport on the A505 near Hitchin. That keeps you off the M1 completely, and at night it is a quick, quiet road.
By train, Peterborough to Luton Airport means going into King’s Cross, walking over to St Pancras and catching a train back out. A Peterborough to Luton Airport taxi takes roughly half the time and drops you a short walk from check-in.
From Woking, your driver takes the M25 clockwise from junction 11 round to junction 21, then the M1 north to junction 10. The slow part is the Heathrow stretch of the M25 between junctions 14 and 16. For Friday afternoon or bank holiday flights, add 30 minutes to your pickup time.
The train means Waterloo, the Tube across to St Pancras and then Thameslink. That is fine with a rucksack, but hard work with two suitcases and children.
Your driver takes either the A6 south through Barton-le-Clay or the A421 and M1. The choice depends on traffic and where in Bedford you live. Either way it is a short run.
To be honest with you, Bedford does have direct trains to Luton Airport Parkway, so a solo traveller with light bags can do the trip cheaply by rail. A taxi wins for flights before 7am, for families, and for anyone living in the villages around Bedford rather than near the station.
The route runs down the M1 to junction 6A, then onto the M25 anticlockwise. Your driver leaves at junction 14 or 15, depending on your Heathrow terminal. A taxi from Heathrow to Luton Airport uses the same roads in reverse.
If you are connecting between the two airports on separate tickets, leave at least four hours between landing at Luton and a long haul departure from Heathrow. Collecting bags, walking to the car and making Heathrow’s bag drop cut-off use up that time faster than people expect. We track your inbound flight, so a late landing costs you nothing extra. We also run Heathrow airport taxis to and from every terminal.
From the airport, your driver joins the M1 southbound at junction 10. You come into London at Staples Corner or Mill Hill and carry on to your address. North London postcodes like Barnet and Edgware are the cheapest, and central London is around £85. The Congestion Charge and ULEZ are already in the fare.
Here is a fair comparison. The DART shuttle plus a fast train gets you from the terminal to St Pancras in a little over half an hour, and for one person heading to King’s Cross that is hard to beat. If there are three or four of you, or you have suitcases, the taxi often works out cheaper per head. The same goes if your hotel is a Tube change or two from St Pancras, and a taxi takes you to the door.
A rail tip if you do take the train: buy your ticket to “Luton Airport”, not “Luton Airport Parkway”. A Luton Airport ticket includes the DART shuttle. A Parkway ticket does not, so you would pay £4.90 extra at the barrier for a four minute ride.
Luton does not let cars stop at the terminal front. Every private hire car, including ours, uses a paid Drop Off and Pick Up Zone in a covered area of the terminal car park across the road. Knowing this in advance saves a lot of confusion on the day.
Drivers set the sat nav to LU2 9QT, then ignore it at the roundabout before the tunnel and follow the Drop Off signs instead. From the zone it is about a 5 minute walk, roughly 260 metres on mostly flat ground. You go through a pedestrian tunnel under the road and straight into the terminal. The airport charges £7 for the first 10 minutes and £1 per minute after that. That charge is already in your fare, so you never pay it on the day.
Your driver waits in the arrivals hall holding a board with your name, then walks with you to the car in the Pick Up Zone. Before the journey, you get the driver’s name, number and car details by WhatsApp or email. We follow your flight number, so if you land 90 minutes late, the driver adjusts with you. One hour of waiting after touchdown is free. If anyone in your group struggles with a 5 minute walk, mention it when you book and we will plan around it.
CCTV watches the roads, roundabouts and bus lanes around the terminal. Stopping there to drop off or pick up brings a £95 enforcement charge, reduced to £55 if paid within 14 days. If your driver politely refuses to “just pull in for a second” by the bus stops, that is why.
Yes. Drivers can use the Long Stay car park, which is free for the first two hours. From there you take the free shuttle bus, which runs 24 hours a day, roughly every 20 minutes, and takes about 10 minutes to reach the terminal. When you travel with us, the Drop Off Zone charge is already paid, so the 5 minute walk is quicker. The Long Stay option is still handy to know if a friend or relative is dropping you off.
Our 8 seater minibus carries eight passengers, eight large cases and four smaller bags in one vehicle. It suits stag and hen weekends, family holidays, school ski trips and sports teams. One minibus usually costs less than two cars and keeps everyone together.
One tip saves a lot of trouble at Luton: count wheeled cabin bags as cases when you choose a vehicle. Budget airline travellers often bring a wheeled cabin bag plus an under-seat bag each, and eight of those fill a boot fast. Tell us about skis, golf bags, pushchairs or a wheelchair when you book. Groups bigger than eight get two or more vehicles that arrive at the same time, all under one booking. You can compare every vehicle size before you book.
Our Luton Airport chauffeur service uses executive Mercedes class saloons with leather seats, a suited driver and full privacy for calls on the way. The chauffeur meets you in arrivals and keeps the car close. That matters when you have a meeting in Canary Wharf, the City or a Hertfordshire business park straight after landing.
Luton is also one of the UK’s busiest business jet airports. If you are flying private, tell us the name of the private aviation terminal when you book, so your chauffeur goes to the right gate rather than the main terminal. Companies that use Luton every month can set up a business account with monthly invoices.
Plenty of people looking at car hire at Luton Airport only need to get from the plane to one address and back. If that is you, compare the full cost before you book a rental. The hire companies sit in a Car Hire Centre away from the terminal. You reach it on a free 24 hour shuttle bus that takes around 10 minutes, and that is before you even get to the desk.
| What you deal with | Hire car from Luton Airport | Pre-booked transfer with us |
|---|---|---|
| Getting started | Shuttle bus to the Car Hire Centre, queue at the desk, vehicle checks | Driver waiting in arrivals with your name |
| Costs on top of the price | Fuel, insurance excess, parking at your hotel, Congestion Charge and ULEZ if you drive into London | None. Airport charges, tolls and London charges are in the fare |
| Going home | Refuel, return the car, shuttle back, allow extra time | Driver collects you from your door |
| Best for | Touring the Chilterns or the countryside over several days | Airport to one address, early or late flights, groups |
If you need a car for the whole trip, hire is the right call. If you only need to reach a hotel, an office or a family home, a fixed fare transfer is usually cheaper and far less hassle after a flight.
London Luton Airport advises arriving 2 to 3 hours before departure. For a 6:00am short haul flight with cabin bags, aim to walk into the terminal at about 4:00am. These are the pickup times we suggest. They include a 15 minute buffer, because overnight motorway closures on the M1 and M25 do happen.
| Pickup from | For a 6:00am flight | For an 8:00am flight |
|---|---|---|
| Bedford | 3:10am | 5:00am |
| Milton Keynes | 3:05am | 4:50am |
| Northampton | 2:50am | 4:35am |
| Central London | 2:45am | 4:15am |
| Heathrow area hotels | 2:50am | 4:25am |
| Peterborough | 2:35am | 4:20am |
| Woking | 2:35am | 4:05am |
| Leicester | 2:25am | 4:10am |
The 8:00am pickups allow for morning rush hour traffic. If you are checking in hold luggage or flying long haul, book your pickup 30 to 60 minutes earlier.
Luton is the UK’s fifth busiest airport and handled around 16.7 million passengers in 2024. In April 2025 the government approved its expansion plan. The plan includes a second terminal and aims for 32 million passengers a year by the 2040s. The legal challenges against it have since been cleared.
Day to day travel has not changed yet. The Drop Off and Pick Up Zone, the LU2 9QT postcode and the tunnel walk to the terminal all work the same way. When building work on the new terminal starts to affect the approach roads, our drivers will be briefed on the new access routes before your trip.
Flying from somewhere else next time? We run Stansted airport transfers, Gatwick airport transfers and London City airport taxis the same way. If UK private hire is new to you, this short guide to booking a taxi in the UK covers the basics.
