Train Station Taxis at a Fixed Fare

Airport CabConnect runs pre-booked station taxis to and from every mainline train station in the UK, 24 hours a day. You get a fixed fare when you book, a driver who follows your train’s real arrival time, and a car waiting for you instead of a queue at the rank. Popular trips include taxis from Paddington to Heathrow, Victoria to Gatwick and St Pancras to Luton Airport, plus short hops between London’s main stations.

Station taxis solve a few common problems:

  • Late night arrivals, when the rank is empty.
  • Connections, when you need to get between two London terminals with luggage in under an hour.
  • Early starts, when your train leaves before the buses run.

Booking ahead means a named driver is already allocated to you, and the price does not change if your train is late.

Station Taxi Prices

These are guide fares for a standard saloon, one way. Estates, people carriers, executive cars and 8 seaters cost more. Enter your station and destination to see your exact fixed price before you pay anything.

Taxis From London’s Main Train Stations

London has more mainline terminals than any other city in the UK, and each one has its own taxi arrangements. Black cabs use the official ranks. Pre-booked private hire cars, including ours, must use separate pick up areas. Your driver knows where those are and sends you the exact meeting point before you arrive.

Kings Cross and St Pancras Taxi

Kings Cross and St Pancras sit side by side on Euston Road. St Pancras has a set down and pick up point on Pancras Road, and that is where pre-booked cars usually meet passengers. Cars cannot be left unattended there, so your driver will message you when they arrive.

St Pancras is also the London terminal for Eurostar. If you are catching a Eurostar train, check-in closes well before departure, so book your taxi to arrive with plenty of time. Check the arrival time on your Eurostar ticket rather than the departure time.

From St Pancras, Thameslink and East Midlands Railway trains run to Luton Airport Parkway. For door to door travel with luggage, our Luton Airport taxis cover the whole trip.

Euston Station Taxi

Euston’s black cab rank sits at the front of the bus station, opposite the station on Euston Square Gardens East. Pre-booked private hire cars use a separate pick up area on Euston Square Gardens West.

Do not ask your driver to meet you on Eversholt Street at the side of the station. TfL has told private hire drivers not to wait there, because cars were blocking the station’s emergency exits. Our drivers use the correct area and tell you exactly where to find them.

Paddington Station Taxi

Paddington is the London end of the Heathrow Express and the Elizabeth line to Heathrow. For a solo traveller with a small bag, the train is quick. For a family with cases, a taxi from Paddington to Heathrow often works out cheaper per person and takes you to the terminal door. It costs from about £60 in a saloon. See our Heathrow airport taxis for terminal by terminal detail.

Victoria Station Taxi

Victoria is the London end of the Gatwick Express and the Southern trains to Gatwick and Brighton. It is also next to Victoria Coach Station. A taxi from Victoria to Gatwick costs from about £75 and is often the easier choice for early flights or heavy luggage. Our Gatwick airport transfers cover both North and South Terminals.

Waterloo Station Taxi

Waterloo is the busiest station in the UK and the London end of the line to Southampton. Many cruise passengers arrive at Waterloo and then face a train to Southampton Central and another taxi to the docks. A direct taxi from Waterloo to the Southampton cruise terminals costs from about £135 and drops you outside your terminal. See our Southampton cruise port taxi service for terminal details.

Liverpool Street Station Taxi

Liverpool Street is the London end of the Stansted Express and is close to the City. A taxi from Liverpool Street to Stansted costs from about £95, and to London City Airport from about £35. See our Stansted airport transfers and London City airport taxis.

Taxis Between London Stations

Changing between London terminals with luggage is one of the most stressful parts of a UK rail journey. Paddington to Kings Cross, or Waterloo to Euston, can mean two Tube changes and plenty of stairs. A station to station taxi costs from about £18 between the central terminals and takes you door to door, usually in 15 to 25 minutes.

If your connection is tight, give us both train times when you book. We will tell you honestly whether the gap is realistic by road at that time of day. During weekday rush hours, the Underground can be faster than any car across central London.

Station Taxis Outside London

We cover every mainline station in England, Scotland and Wales, from Manchester Piccadilly and Birmingham New Street to Edinburgh Waverley and Cardiff Central. Regional stations often have smaller ranks, and some have none at all late at night. A pre-booked car is the only way to be sure someone is waiting.

Popular regional station runs include:

  • Manchester Piccadilly to Manchester Airport
  • Birmingham New Street to Birmingham Airport
  • Southampton Central to the cruise terminals
  • Blackpool North to Manchester and Liverpool airports

When Your Train Is Late, Cancelled or Replaced by a Bus

Trains run late, engineering works bring rail replacement buses, and strike days can cancel whole timetables. We track your train using live departure information. If it arrives late, your driver waits for the real arrival time, and one hour of waiting after it pulls in is free.

If your train is cancelled and you need to finish the journey by road, call us. We can quote a fixed fare from the station you are stuck at to wherever you need to be, often within minutes. Keep your ticket. You may be able to claim compensation from the train company for the delay, separately from your taxi booking.

Booking a Station Taxi in Advance or Using the Rank

Most large stations have a black cab rank, and for a short trip at a quiet time it works well. The problems come late at night, on busy Friday evenings and after big events, when queues build and fewer cabs are around.

Passenger Assist is separate from your taxi booking. Tell us when you book that you are using it, and your driver will meet you at the point where staff bring you out of the station.

Help From the Platform to Your Taxi

If you need help getting from the train to your taxi, book Passenger Assist through National Rail or your train company. It is a free service. You can book up to two hours before you travel, and at many staffed stations you can also turn up and ask a member of staff.

What to Have Ready When You Book

  • The station name, and whether you are being collected or dropped off
  • Your train time and the station it is coming from, so we can track it
  • The number of passengers and cases
  • Any connecting flight, ferry or cruise
  • Any mobility needs, and whether you have booked Passenger Assist

Choosing the Right Vehicle

Train travellers often carry more than they expect, especially students, families and anyone connecting to a flight or cruise. As a guide:

  • One or two people with cabin bags: a saloon.
  • Two to four people with large cases: an estate.
  • A family of five: a people carrier.
  • Groups of six to eight, or bulky items like bikes in bags, music equipment or golf clubs: the 8 seater minibus.

For groups bigger than eight, two or more vehicles arrive at the same time under one booking. You can compare every vehicle in our fleet.
