These are the Aberdeen Airport transfers we run most often. For each one you get the road your driver will actually use and one local detail worth knowing before you travel.
Aberdeen City Centre, Union Square and the Harbour
About 7 miles, 20 to 30 minutes, from £30.
Your driver usually takes the A96 through Bucksburn into the city. The A96 through Bucksburn can be slow at rush hour, between 7:30am and 9am and again after 4:30pm, so allow an extra 15 minutes at those times.
For hotels in the west end, around Queen’s Road and Great Western Road, the AWPR and the A944 can be quicker than coming through the middle of town. Your driver picks the faster road on the day.
Westhill, Stonehaven and the AWPR
7 to 20 miles, 15 to 30 minutes, from £28.
The Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route changed these journeys completely. Stonehaven used to mean crossing the whole city. Now it is about 25 minutes from the airport on the bypass, with no city traffic at all.
Westhill is home to many offshore and subsea companies and is about 15 minutes away on the AWPR. It is one of our busiest routes on weekday mornings.
Inverurie, Ellon, Peterhead and Fraserburgh
10 to 40 miles, 15 to 65 minutes, from £30.
Inverurie is a straight 15 minute run up the A96. For Ellon, Peterhead and Fraserburgh, your driver takes the A90 north. It is dual carriageway as far as Ellon and single carriageway beyond.
Peterhead and Fraserburgh have no railway station, and the bus from the airport needs a change in the city. A taxi takes you door to door in under an hour, which is why fishing and energy workers book this route so often.
Banchory, Ballater and Royal Deeside
20 to 45 miles, 30 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, from £50.
Your driver takes the AWPR south and joins the A93, which runs along the River Dee through Banchory and Aboyne to Ballater. Ballater is the village closest to Balmoral, and this is one of the prettiest drives in Scotland.
Deeside hotels and holiday lets are spread out, and there is no train. If you are staying near Braemar, tell us when you book. The extra miles past Ballater are on narrow roads that take longer than a map suggests.
Dundee, Inverness and Edinburgh
70 to 125 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes to 3 hours, from £135.
Dundee is a simple run south on the A90. Inverness is about 100 miles along the A96 through Huntly, Keith and Elgin. That road is mostly single carriageway, so a fixed fare matters here. Edinburgh is around two and a half hours via the A90 and M90.
When a flight to Aberdeen is diverted or cancelled, we often get calls for these long runs at short notice. If that happens to you, call us and we will price the trip while you wait.
